Happy Halloween!
>> Now that I have a bit of free time in the hospital... <<This year, we squeezed Halloween for all it's worth.
We started off small, with a party at Taisei's preschool. Kids wore their costumes and showed off their regular classroom activities to their visiting parents. Taisei was more interested in doing crafts than playing with the Halloween activities they had set up.
"Taisei の 'T'!"
Every year, Gardner Village hosts Witches' Night Out. This was really supposed to be girls' night out for Wami and her friends, but things fell through and I ended up going and being the photographer. Gardner Village is always a great place to get into the holiday spirit. Taisei got to show off his costume early. He also always likes to visit the petting zoo or take a pony ride.
Hallow's Eve: Local trunk-or-treating & Trolley Square talent show.
Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival at Thanksgiving Point - Halloween with a farm theme. We took Taisei on Halloween day and he had a blast, first with his Auntie Esther, and then with his buddies Naomu, Shun, and Yusei. Things the kids enjoyed:- riding the tractor and the cow train
- wandering the 3-D haunted house and the giant blow-up lizard
- racing the foot-pedal tractors
- bouncing on the "jumping pillow"
- getting lost in the mazes - an adult version, kid version, and a tunnel version
- just running around everywhere
Trick-or-treating in the Avenues. For the hallmark event of Halloween, we had never trick-or-treated in our own neighborhood. I always thought it would be more fun to meet up with friends, so we always left home to make it a social event. When Taisei was 1, he went as a monkey with the Farnsworths in Woodscross. That year, he figured out that everyone was passing things out, though we didn't let him eat the candy. When he was 2, he went again as a monkey with the Jones in Sugarhouse. It became more of an interactive event with his friends, although we couldn't get him to say "Trick-or-treat". This year, the Jones - in the form of a clone trooper, power ranger, and monkey - joined a spider-Taisei in the Avenues. The lack of consistent sidewalks and street lights makes the Avenues a less-than-ideal location, but 11th Ave turned out to be a pretty good street. Taisei still had a hard time saying "Trick-or-treat," but a little social pressure from his friends helped. At least he was saying "Thank you" by the time we were done. He had a great time running around with his buddies. Hiro probably got the most attention in his pirate costume, complete with a sword.

I LOVE his spider costume, he is SO cute!
That tractor ride looks so neat! They had little tiny ones for kids?!
Is Mirei a good sleeper so far? (I know they say newborns sleep all the time, but Adele did NOT. )
