Never-ending Energy ( = force x distance)

Since Hiro's not a big guy (11 lbs), the force (= mass x acceleration) to move him is not great. But the distances, not to mention the *velocity and acceleration -- **flabbergasting.

Hiro had been itching to run, so we took him out after church yesterday - this time, by mountain bike. A quick and easy way to make him really move. It would also get Wami's heart rate up better than walking. Well, we took him to the west edge of the Avenues, dropped down (200 ft descent) into Memory Grove (where he loves to play with the other big dogs), did a couple of trails, and took the scenic way back through the canyon and up to 11th Avenue. It was probably 3 miles or so at a running pace for Hiro. Surely, this would be enough to knock him out for the rest of the evening. So what happens? We get home and he doesn't want to go in. He just wants to run around on the lawn. We take him in and he spends the rest of the night running around trying to get us to play with him! All we did was light the fire.

He'll be great for the trails once he gets bigger. For now, we don't want to push him too hard as a pup. Oh, we saw the vet for the first time last Thursday. We're so lame - Hiro was wearing a flea collar and the assistant informed us, "Uhh, we don't have fleas in Utah." But I found out that we do have heartworm in all 50 states. Make sure you doggy takes his/her heartworm medicine! And we do have fleas in California, so he's gotta take his medicine before we go back for Thanksgiving. It'll be his first trip out of state.

November will be San Jose, December will be San Jose again, followed by a little excursion to Honolulu to see Jason and Michelle, then we'll be out of money and time to travel. But hopefully next year, we can hit D.C. and then eventually N.Y. There may also be some Takaoka, Japan involved there for Wami as well. Can't wait for the next vacation!
