TIE your shoes, SAY my name

Things our boy can't do yet. But that's how you pronounce his name: TIE-SAY. I'm just clarifying since we've had so many inquiries about his name. As for the middle name... maybe you'll need some mandarin lessons for that one. ;)

So Wami was taking a shower yesterday before I got home from work. She was feeling icky and couldn't wait. Since Taisei was sleeping nicely, she put him in the car seat next to the shower so she could still watch him. Invariably, when we get ready to shower, Hiro will bully his way into the bathroom. I guess he feels like a guardian or maybe he likes the soothing sound. Who knows. He just sits there quietly and usually goes to sleep. So Taisei's in the car seat and Hiro's curled up in the corner, just chillin' while Wami's having her shower. Oh no! Taisei starts to cry. Maybe we're just green parents, but a crying baby can be a stressful thing. Wami begins to rush her shower so she can quickly get out. But what happens next is heartwarming. Hiro gets up and non-chalantly strolls over to the car seat. Without knowing Hiro's intentions, the moment is tense. Hiro simply gives Taisei a couple of licks on the cheek and Taisei stops crying. Hiro then resumes his lounging position in the corner as if "that's that." Wami's then able to peacefully resume her nice, long shower. And as far as we have ever seen, that is the only reason that Hiro seems to pays any attention - to comfort Taisei when he needs to be comforted.

Wami's rash has mostly dried up, which we hope is one step towards recovery. It's still as itchy as ever, but at least not oozing and crusty. We're going to get a second dermatologist's opinion and maybe try an allergist as well.

We had a blast this weekend with Mark, Beverly and their cute son, Evan. Evan was gentle with Taisei, always wanting to stroke Taisei's head. We're going to try to teach Taisei to say "mum" when he's hungry because Evan was so cute when he said it (even though Evan's supposed to be saying "more"). Also, Hiro was very gentle with Evan. He seemed want to lick Evan a lot. The great thing was that Evan was totally fine with Hiro as well. It makes a difference that Evan grew up with Lucy. It's like immunization from the "canine-o-phobia" that's WAY too rampant among Chinese. It was nice to have Mark and Beverly around to kind of monitor us as parents. They gave us lots of tips, pointers and most importanly, reassurance. It's amazing how worried you get as a new parent.

Public appearances:

• Taisei made his debut last weekend at Satomi and Jens' wedding. Congratulations to Satomi and Jens!
  
• The evening of the wedding, we had a celebration at the Jenny's with our L-3 Corporate Basketball team. We came in second place this year because we lost the championship game. We'll have to go all the way next year.
  
• Taisei also visited our long time family friends this weekend - the Teng family. Father Teng was one of the most influencial Bishops in my life. The kids are all grown up now! Jessica's getting married. Kimberly's in college. Jason and Michelle have been in YM/YW's for many years already.
