Family Fun in Vegas
It's good to have family. Making the trek to Las Vegas used to mean aching feet from walking "the Strip" all day long, staying in dingy hotels filled with smoke and slot machines, and looking for the next good place to eat. Now that my cousin Frank and his family has settled into a huge home down there, it's totally different. We have to make an effort to visit the Strip - which is nice, actually. He has discounts and tricks to do all kinds of things such as clubbing, but we hardly bother. Probably also because we both have a family now. But we haven't forgotten how to have fun.Here we are enjoying an all-you-can-eat sushi place. It's a step up from buffet because everything is made to order. Sushi House Manda was the best, but it seems to have disappeared, so here we are at Frank's favorite, Sushimon. It sounds like someone copied someone, doesn't it? This place is not for the faint of heart. If you just want teriyaki chicken and salmon rolls, then you'd better stick to Todai or Makino - both still very good Vegas joints, but not specializing primarily in the raw seafood.
"uni" and "ama ebi"
Frank and Lorrine's daughter, Brooke, is all grown up! Well, at least 2 and a half seems like it compared to 11 months. She was so good at entertaining Taisei. It was neat to watch the two play. She possessed a particularly endearing charm - such a CUTIE!
We saw some of the strip, including the new Wynn Hotel - no big whoop.
Taisei enjoyed the Bellagio fountain show.
Lastly, we celebrated Frank's birthday by making a huge feast for his buddies. Frank's step-mom is Korean and she taught him all the secrets to making killer Kalbi short ribs. Here we are pounding out the meat (one of her secrets) and boy was it yummy off the grill. We also had grilled squid, chicken, deer meat, crab, clams, thousand year old eggs and taro cake. Yum!

Hey Jerin & Wami, looks like you had fun in Vegas. While you guys were there, we had ourselves a baby! The hospital here has free wireless internet access, so we uploaded some pictures to our new family website (madeofsun.net) for all to see. Have a safe trip back to SLC.

Cool glad you had fun in Vegas, but wheres the picture of the NSX? Heh!
Anyways hope you guys are having fun in D.C. only bad thing is you are missing the great weather out here in Utah. Was in the 70's today and we will be having great weather till I think Wednesday. But I'm sure you'll find some great stuff to do in D.C. also.

We love reading your blog because you're the only ones who update regularly...we will strive to improve. In the mean time though, we need to hang out before everyone leaves Utah...we'll be gone on May 1, so make time in your travels, k?

Keoki, the NSX hit 80mph before we shifted out of 2nd gear. Wow!
Steph, it's been like 2 weeks. Let's get some sushi!
Becky, I have to bug my cousin for the Kalbi recipe. But I think pounding the meat made a difference. It was super tender and yummy. We cooked some just this last weekend that we didn't pound and it wasn't quite the same.
